What is Arthroscopy?

Joint replacement is a surgical procedure employed to replace the damaged joint with artificial implants and is usually performed when the joint is severely damaged by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, post-traumatic arthritis or avascular necrosis.
What is arthritis and what causes it?
The term arthritis literally means inflammation of a joint.
The exact cause is never known. In general, it affects people as they get older. Other causes include injury, genetic predisposition, and some high level sports that can lead to joint injury. Arthritis is more common in women than in men.
What is direct anterior approach hip replacement surgery?
Direct Anterior Hip Replacement is a minimally invasive hip surgery to replace the hip joint without cutting through any muscles or tendons. Traditional hip replacement involves cutting major muscles to access the hip joint.

When you come for your appointment please remember to obtain and bring the following:
- Referral letter from GP, family physician or other doctor
- Medicare card, DVA card, Pension Card
- Have your Private Hospital Insurance information with you
- Copies of results of X-rays, MRI’s, or CT scan etc. and any other relevant information
